I'm not using this thing any more.
They're all completely insane! There's five of them, and they're all completely insane.

[[ooc: Exasperated beyond belief, he's going up to the roof of building eight for some peace and quiet. XD]]

*climbs up to the roof as well, following the familiar scent*

*spots James and screeches*

[Translation: Whoa. It's YOU!]

*scurries over and climbs on his head*

Norringon lifts Jack the Monkey off his head and lets him sit on his arm and climb onto his shoulder. "Good day to you, little chap."

He inspects the monkey a little more closely. "Hullo, aren't you Sparrow's pet? Followed him here, have you?" He sighs. "You probably shouldn't have, you know. Terrible place, this. Drives you mad. Full of idiots. Never would have come here permanently if it weren't for being chased by a horde of undead pirates. Bloody undead pirates. Present company accepted, of course. Mind you.." He scratched the monkey absentmindedly behind the ears, grinning wryly. "It does have some things to recommend it..." It was depressingly easy to talk to a monkey that didn't talk back. "I've never been one to do a lot of pining, you know. If you love something, let it be free, move on, that sort of thing..." He trailed off, and looked at the monkey again. "I'm sorry, I haven't any food for you."

[Hehe, I'm assuming that this will be somewhat like a log, then]

Jack chitters a bit and tilts his head, trying to get a better look at the feather-hat man's face. Somehow, the man seems different than the last time they'd met; back in the other world, everything had always been hectic, loud, fast-paced. Here, things are stagnant, and even this man who used to be so full of willpower seems to have lost it.

The small animal leans into the man's hand, enjoying the feel of the scratching behind his ears and giving him a wide, toothy grin. He's not sure what the big man's upset about, but the scratching makes Jack happy enough, and he's more than glad to return the favor, chattering some more and starting to scratch lightly with his paws behind the big man's ears as well.

Jack tries to tell the big man to cheer up, as he seems rather down, but men have never been able to understand Jack before, and Jack doesn't entirely expect that to change now.

[Special monkey post.If it needs to be moved, it needs to be moved. I've no patience for asterisks.]

Norrington tilts his head slightly to look at the monkey properly, and partially to avoid being tickled behind the ears, which is making him chuckle. The monkey is a cheerful little thing, and stroking its fur is comforting. Much better than that evil-eyed cat. He smiles a little.

"Listen to me, talking to a monkey." He rolled his eyes. "I'm as mad as the rest of them."

Then he stood up, and looked out over the city. In the evening light, the city glittered like a million jewels, spectacular and tantalising.

"See that." He said, gesturing. "Beautiful by night, isn't it? Beautiful and maddening. Sometimes I look at it and for a second, I think I've come home. When I first came here in my dreams, I was actually irritated to wake up back in the real world. Isn't that odd? I always thought the sea was my home. But sometimes, there's a scent in the air that reminds me of Suffolk in autumn, and it's full of such fascinating people. All equally mad, of course, but still fascinating. I miss the sea, but the sea is finite. We've been right the way round the whole earth now. It won't be long before there's naught left to discover. No more mysteries. But out there..." He gestured. "Somewhere out there there are doors to worlds you and I could never dream of. Is this some kind of a gift? That I should be the one to explore beyond the confines of the earth itself? To command a ship that flies among the stars themselves...that would be a dream worth reaching for. Whoever created this city, they don't know what they've done. I'm told they wanted to destroy everything. But.. they've linked everything. Everything, everywhere. I don't understand it, but I can feel it, here." He put a hand to his chest. Then he smiled wryly. "You try explaining that to them down there, though. With their opium and their foolish games. You'd better run along back to your master now, little fellow."

And with that, he put the monkey down on the rooftop, and walked away to the stairs, feeling much the better.

[[ooc: Feel free to have the monkey follow him, but I'm rejoining normal posts with him now.]]
